Point of Sale Remote

Want the power of Point of Sale with the flexibility of Quick Sale?

Then you need Point of Sale Remote!

Features & Benefits

Allows Point Of Sale To Be Used At Remote Locations: The Point of Sale module updates Inventory as invoices are printed, thereby eliminating the possibility of using it at remote locations. The Quick Sale module allows you to transfer a file from remote locations for update at a central site, but the Quick Sale module does not have the powerful features of Point of Sale. With the Point of Sale Remote program from Roundtable Software, you can run Point of Sale locally, transfer a few data files at end-of-day and using our program, update both the Inventory and A/R of a central location.

Accessible From Within the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System: By using the GoTo window, the Point of Sale Remote program can easily be accessed. When done, you are returned to the accounting software.

Use All Of The Popular Features Of Point Of Sale: You can add customers at the remote sites, process layaways, sell serialized items, pull from a specific warehouse, reconcile cash drawers—in short, most everything you’d normally do through Point of Sale! Allocations are not maintained for layaway items nor are the serial numbers of child items of “Affect=Yes” parents; also, HOLD invoices are not updated; only customer data stored within Point of Sale files is captured for new customers added at the remote sites.

Free Up Backroom Accounting Functions: Because Point of Sale normally updates Inventory real-time, the Inventory module is often locked for the entire day as sales are processed at the front counter. By loading the Point of Sale software onto the front counter machines and using Point of Sale Remote to update at end-of-day, you can have full access to all Inventory and A/R functions while sales are processed. No more calling back and forth to see if others have gotten out of their program so you can run yours.

Point of Sale Remote replaces your normal end-of-day update from Point of Sale with a program that updates both Inventory and A/R with sales data. You can add customers at the remote sites, process layaways, sell serialized items, pull from a specific warehouse, reconcile cash drawers—in short, most everything you’d normally do through Point of Sale! Allocations are not maintained for layaway items nor are the serial numbers of child items of “Affect=Yes” parents, nor are HOLD invoices updated.

Each morning, A/R and Inventory data is transferred from the home office to the remote sites. Throughout the day, all locations enter sales as they normally would through  Point of Sale. At the end of the day, the remote locations send their Point of Sale files back to the home office. At the home office, our program is used to update the daily sales from the remote stores to the home office A/R and Inventory.

Why Do I Need Point Of Sale Remote?

With the POS-Remote package from Roundtable Software and the Point of Sale module, you avoid the high cost of leased lines and get the flexibility of the powerful Point of Sale system at all your remote locations.

Because the Point of Sale module updates Inventory as invoices are printed, a direct connection must be established to run remote stores with a centralized Inventory. If you don’t want to risk garbaged data over regular phone lines, you have to purchase leased lines from the phone company—a VERY expensive proposition.

I don't have remote sites, but I do have several cashier stations. Can POS-Remote help me? Definitely! I’m sure you’ve found that many Inventory-related functions are locked while cashiers are processing sales. If you treat the cashier stations as remote sites, you can continue to do all regular processing in the back office without running into or causing locked files.

How are files transferred between locations? The data transfers can be done via modem over regular phone lines or via Internet. Because data files for the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System are highly compressible, file transfers are very quick. For example, a 10,000 item Inventory with a total of 10 MB in all files compresses to just over one meg—small enough to fit on a floppy! With a 28.8 baud modem using the Zmodem protocol, the file will transfer in less than 5 minutes. Typically, the Point of Sale files are much smaller so the end of day transfer will be even faster.

When a new version of the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System is released, how is Point of Sale Remote impacted? For normal, minor releases, there is generally no need to change the POS-Remote software. For major releases, Roundtable charges a nominal upgrade fee.
